    Generosity

    E. Stanley Jones, missionary to India states, “Money is a wonderful servant, or it can be a severe slave master.”

The first word of Luke 6:38 is “give.” If we don’t obey this generous step, we never reap the overflowing part that is promised. If we never give, we will forever miss the pleasant feeling it brings and thereby be joining the group called misers.

Generosity originates in the heart of one who is content with who they are, what they have, and where they are. The urge to give begins slowly like a camp fire. After the first small gift, a pleasant feeling flames up and engenders a favorable desire to help, assist, or bless others. Some may possess the opinion that giving freely of what is theirs will not turn into financial success for them. Much like a furnace, we must provide gas for the furnace to produce heat. The Lord says we must give if we are to prove it will be given back to us. Then our life will advance to the point of overflowing.

Today, are you willing to trust God’s word and be generous as you feel the need to help someone?
