Damaging Feelings
Sunday, September 25, 2011 Bad situations create resentment in us. As soon as we recognize resentment’s presence, we need to deal with it. Undealt with resentment grows into hatred. These negative emotions can wear on us like a cancer. Like the disease, it never is satisfied. After hatred controls our thoughts and invades our emotions, revenge begins to form. Resentment and hatred affect our digestive system and the acid created in our stomach causes ulcers.
So bottling up resentment and anger are destructive to our mind and body. The way to rid ourselves of these is to decide to forgive them for what they did or said. At first, it seems like we are hypocritical. We say the words, “I forgive them.” We still feel as hurt but the journey to a clear conscience has begun. Don’t quit now but keep saying “I forgive them.” In time, our words will catch up with our heart and intentions. When that time occurs we can try to forget the hurt.
We will now be able to make wise decisions and enjoy a freedom with a joyful heart.
