    Influence Employees Positively

    A company owner, Clarence A., had these traits that were first mentioned by Vernon Howard in his book, The Magic Power of Persuasion. Clarence’s company was worth four billion dollars but he approached his employees in a pleasant manner. Often he would brag on their production or clean work area. He couched his suggestions in a gentle voice. Never did he project a domineering attitude. His hidden agenda was expressed in how much better it might be to do it another way. The suggestions, not demands, would be to their mutual benefit. Criticism was not in his management style.

    Clarence was cheerful most of the time which gave the employees the feeling he was approachable with their thoughts and possible improvements. Even if the idea was extremely out of the realm of possibilities he was open and not shocked.

    Being open to positive constructive criticism is the way to a successful management style.
