Fear
Sunday, May 8, 2011 Someone has said, “Fear is more disgraceful than failure.” Fear keeps us from bungee-jumping. That same emotion arises as we head into a job interview. Fear raised its ugly head when we asked that sweet person on our first date. Meeting an important person may be a frightful and fearful experience. Failing to give that speech for the boss may chase that promotion farther into the future.
Fear keeps us in one place. If or when we attempt, the chances are good that we will succeed. The first step could lead us a thousand miles into our successful future. If we learn what does not work, that puts us a step closer to achieving a profitable future. As Thomas A. Edison was inventing the light bulb, failure only gave him incentive to try another item for the element.
Fear has the power to keep us out of heaven. Many fear God is not real and refuse to trust Jesus’ blood to cleanse them of their sin. With forgiveness comes a pass to get us into the eternal land of heaven. So fear might be greater than failure. When we fail/sin our Lord allows multiple chances by always forgiving when we ask.
