Influence
Sunday, April 10, 2011 God has not permitted us humans to invent a machine that measures our social influence. While walking our white miniature French poodle, both of us spotted a clump of bright yellow daffodils resting behind the bushes. Those in cars only got a flash glimpse of their radiant beauty.
Next on the way to town there stood a proud free-flowing forsythia. It displayed its brilliant yellow jacket. As the traffic stops, all could study and soak in its majestic influence. Many people’s attitude got a vital lift. What a positive influence it had, by not being afraid to show what God put within it.
On our return, we noticed a grove of trees. You can tell a bustling farmhouse used to call this ground home. Before we pass it, we saw two parallel rolls of hardy yellow daffodils who got to breathe in that fresh country air. These daffodils had long been an influence to many of the past generation. Year after year they have flaunted their crop of yellow hair.
The influence of some humans may be shortened by a teenage car accident. Others of us daily influence people at the office or our work area. Among the senior citizens are persons whose Christian influence still being felt by their children, grandchildren and neighbors. Some have let their light shine for almost an entire century.
So today realize you are an influence to someone for good or bad. Like nature, let’s radiate a positive influence.
